Membership: Perry Garrett:
The Membership/Education Ministry meet to make plans for the coming year involving the Church Education for families, especially the children.  Anyone who would like to help or have ideas, call Perry Garrett (348-3598).
The Vacation Bible School was a success.  There was twice the number of children present June 9-12.  We discovered we needed more help.  This was an opportunity to get many more involved.  We thank all of those who came and helped.  It was a wonderful experience for all.

Outreach and Evangelism: Patsy Parrott:
The committee will meet in June to finalize their request for the 2009 budget for the different ministries of our church.
The “Fill the food baskets” drive was a wonderful success. THANKS!! We received and delivered over 600 food items t for Community Action. Please continue to bring one can of food in each week for this ministry. Now that school is out, there is a greater need for this food. You have been so generous in helping to feed those who are in need. We hope to be able to deliver food twice a month to the agency.
The Appalachia ministry was a wonderful trip. There will be another trip in the fall. Make your plans now to go on this. See Darlene Longmire about details. (348-3642)
Be sure to purchase your BUMPER STICKERS to take on vacation and take that picture and give it to Marilyn Hall. You will be helping the baby basket ministry. Ann Jennings makes these baskets up and deliveries them to Flaget Memorial Hospital to every baby born there and to all of our members who have new babies.

CWF: Patsy Parrott
The annual picnic was held. The regular bean soup comers were our guests. Jane King gave the devotional and a program to reaffirm the officers for 2008-2009. They are Patsy Parrott, President; Wanda Foster, Vice-President; Lydia Carter, Secretary; Winnie Sutton, Treasurer; Trina Loader, Service.
Patsy Parrott, President made the gift presentation from CWF to Kelley Laine Dick at her ordination using the following. “ Kelley, You have allowed us to be a part of your journey to this great day of your ordination. It is an honor to present you with this visiting communion set. Each time you use it you will find a plaque with, “Love, Christian Women’s Fellowship, First Christian, DOC, June 14, 2008. Our love, prayers and support will continue to be with you. “
CWF members provided table decorations and desserts for her reception. A long stem red rose along with a cake decorated with a red chalice and roses with “Congratulations, Rev. Kelley” was the centerpiece on the dessert table.
Thanks to everyone who helped clean the Disciple Mission Center floor; kitchen; and set up tables, chairs and helped clean up after this wonderful event.
The next meeting is July 6 at 5 p.m. Hope all ladies can be there. Vera Hart will be giving our mission lesson.
